iPad 3 Day has arrived in the UK with the release of the latest offering in tablet computers from computer giant, Apple. Somewhat of a stir was caused in central London Apple Stores on Friday, March 16 as hundreds of techno enthusiasts descended upon ‘hyped-up’ staff, with some shoppers queuing for over 24 hours in the hopes of being the first to purchase the new iPad, version 3.
The new iPad model offers several improvements on the iPad 2 version, including 5 MP iSight camera and sharper than most, crystal clear ‘retina’ display, as well as including those Apps we now find we just can’t live without. Here’s a little more detail about the newly released tab:
With over 200,000 apps to choose from you’ll never be lost for things to do, whether you’re taking a lunch break in the office, or lounging around the house.
Apps standard to the iPad 3 are:
App Store, Calendar, Camera, Contacts, FaceTime, Game Center, iBooks, iTunes, Music, Mail, Maps, Messages, Newsstand, Notes, Photo , Photo Booth, Reminders. Safari, Videos, YouTube
Featuring a rear facing F2.4 aperture, 5 mega pixel iSight camera (640 x 480 pixels), video with 1080 pixel , 30 fps video recording and video stabilisation with simple tap technology to set exposure and focusing. There’s a new iPhoto app for iOS which is said to make editing high resolution images a breeze!
Offering 4G LTE capability, 3G and Wi-Fi as well as GSM / UMTS networks like HSPA, HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA. Sadly lacking the in UK, 4G is something for the future, but with the use of the other fast mobile networks the iPad 3 enjoys faster download and upload speeds than the iPad 2.
Faster and more powerful than previous incarnations, the New iPad 3 boasts the Apple A5X processor with quad-core graphics (+ 1 GB Ram), said to be 4 times faster than the iPad 2 and Tegra 3 on Google based tablets – you’ll definitely be getting great performance here. And with the lithium 42.4 watt-hour rechargeable battery you’ll receive 10 hours of fun filled surfing, music and video time on your iPad 3.
The 3.1million pixel display offers a crystal clear and sharp viewing experience. The 9.7” screen with its tightly compacted pixels delivers 2048 x 1536 pixels with 264 ppi of dazzlingly beautiful resolution – four times that of the iPad 2 (1024 x 768 pixels).
Forget about tapping on the keyboard, save your finger tips and use the voice dictation tool with the ability to update your FB status and send your latest tweets all without typing a letter!
Options available are pretty standard with Apple providing 16GB, 32GB, 64GB either as the Wi-Fi only model, or the Wi-Fi + 4G model.
